This course is
an integral part of the Atlântico Golfe Hotel on the sandy
beach near to the fishing port of Peniche. This town is
about 80 kms. north of Lisbon. The longest hole is
the par-5 fifth of 429 meters, and the shortest is the par-3
sixth of 143 meters. Lakes have also been constructed for
the wayward ball, especially on the par-4 first hole. |

The essence of
play on this course is accuracy. An example of this can
be found on the par-4 sixteenth hole. Strategically placed
trees impede the line of the second shot and these must
be carried. The number twelve hole presents an interesting
shot over water onto a shallow green. |

The River Alcabrichel
bound one side of the course and this brings misfortunate
to players with an inaccurate shot. Although, the course
is not long in length its holes present some difficulty
due to the accuracy and distances involved. A good example
is hole nine of 191 meters and a par-3. Due to the elevated
position of the green it presents a very difficult challenge
to the average player. |
